Abstract
Two pairs of husband and wife Holocaust survivors,
Eva and Peter Glaser, and Erika and Stephen Tauber, discuss their experiences during the Holocaust as part of
the Philip N. Backstrom Survivor Lecture Series held during Northeastern University's annual Holocaust Awareness Week.
Eva Glaser and Erika Tauber, twins originally from Vienna, Austria were young girls when the war began. They traveled from
country to country with their parents, hiding for some time in the village of Quillan, France, before coming to America.
Erika's husband, Stephen Tauber, was also a child in Vienna, Austria when the war began. His father was hired as a surgeon
in India and they were able to move there; later the British arrested them as German enemy aliens but they were able to
gain visas to the United States.
Eva's husband, Peter Glaser, originally from Zatec, Czechoslovakia, escaped with his family to Italy and then to England.
After spending time in England, he joined the Czechoslovak Army tank corps and took part in the D-Day invasion.
