Abstract/Description
Holocaust survivor Raymond Fridmann discusses his experiences during the Holocaust as part of the Philip N. Backstrom Survivor Lecture Series held during Northeastern University's annual Holocaust Awareness Week. Fridmann, originally from Alsace-Lorraine, was captured as a young boy hiding in Vichy, France, and spent time in Dachau and Auschwitz, later escaping to the woods when the transport train he was on was derailed. Fridmann also discusses the deep psychological effects of the war on his family and how being a child a survivor impacted his postwar life.
